Coconut craze
I am sure you’ve had some coconut juice or tried it lately. It has become a huge trend in the past 2 years. Well why not, it’s healthy for you. I wouldn’t go to say it’s this incredible drink that is the only one to consume. But as part of a diet, using coconut oil for cooking, drinking a little coconut juice here and there, and eating coconut is great.
Years back when I was giving a lot of seminars on fatty acids I’d speak about the coconut, but in terms such as this. On a chart of the fatty acid composition of different seed oils, coconut oil is highest in saturated fatty acids. BUT, it doesn’t seem to raise cholesterol levels and more specific the LDL or bad cholesterol levels. There had been studies to concur with this on the polynesian culture when they’re eating their original diet.
The other findings showed how the coconut oil can tolerate a very high heat when cooking. What this means is it doesn’t create a lot of free radicals which are detrimental to your cells. So great to cook with! Also, some people even mix it with their butter to get another benefit, lauric acid. This has been shown to have some anti viral effects.
So coconut is here to stay, use it in moderation, don’t go crazy for coconuts!
