Aroma-therapy is in the air

Our sense of smell can bring good memories, maybe bad memories or subconsciously make us attracted to each other. There are sensory olfactory neurons which send messages to the brain which translate to our experience.  That’s a very simplified version of how our sense of smell works, but I think you get it.

Sure there’s cologne, perfume, and essential oils which used with a diffuser will permeate the air we are breathing. So let’s say if you would agree with me that certain smells of foods, spices such as cinnamon or colognes and perfumes of the ones we love bring to us good memories, it goes that certain essential oils will produce a feeling in our body and mind too. This is the essence of aromatherapy. To produce a feeling which translates to our brain and brings a positive, uplifting, stress reducing experience. Hence aroma-therapy.

Just a word about it today. My passion is much more about nutritional science, but this popped in my head today and thought to give it a plug. It’s all about being holistic.

I think it’s important to remember to treat ourselves with good smelling scents in whichever form we can to support these uplifting feelings.
