Agave is the new sweetie for you this season

I know I reminded you to get rid of the sugar from your diet in a previous post, but I must admit we all like something sweet, myself included. That’s why I wanted to make sure you know what to buy next time you’re in the health food store for a sweetener.

Add agave nectar to your grocery list next time. Agave is a plant and it produces this wonderful syrupy sap known as agave syrup or nectar. Why do I like it? One of the best things is that agave does not raise your blood sugar, bingo! One of your biggest ways to keep your weight managed is to keep normal blood sugar levels throughout your day.  And please, throw out the artificial sweeteners! Yes, that includes splenda. I don’t like it, throw them all out, bad, bad, bad.

Agave is in! And you can use it in all kinds of teas, baked goods, or in a protein pudding mix. Hmm, you ask? A protein pudding mix? One of my clients experimented and found his perfect night time snack. A mixture of yogurt, agave, flax seeds and protein powder, yum. Maybe he throws a little berries and walnuts in there too, but try that if you want a healthy snack and keep losing weight or maintaining.
