Build a fence and prevent cars from going off the cliff, aha, prevention

When I was in college taking epidemiology you learn about health studies of large groups of people over the course of years and what health issues they end up with based on diet, lifestyle, age, and other factors. I bring this up today to mention another piece of my history and psychology about health. It’s called  prevention.

One study which was an aha moment for me in class, and so, so simple is written in my post title. Once there was a place where on a winding road, at the same juncture, many, many cars would end up driving off the cliff. So the city put a lot of money into making sure the ambulance could get their fast enough, make sure  there was a phone nearby so people could call the ambulance,  and make sure there were a lot of signs so people understood this was a dangerous zone. Well, cars kept going off the cliff no matter signs, communication and great ambulance service. Someone came up with another idea, let’s build a fence.

I hope you get my point. Prevention is the key to your health. Now being that we all have different family history, lifestyles, ages, sex, and so many other factors knowing what to do is the question. We take our cars to a mechanic, our computers to a tech, our tv’s to a tv repair, why not take your body to a practitioner interested in keeping you well so you don’t fall off the cliff? I think I just had it in me since a teenager to understand our bodies and how nutritionally we can offset, prevent, strengthen and create good health.

And yes, I do focus a lot on women’s health, only because I am a woman and know our bodies better. But men, I can support and teach you too. Today I want you to start thinking about prevention. What do I know is health to eat and start buying those foods to have at home, in the office and even in the car.

With all the chaos going on with our health care, insurance rates, coverage, pharmaceutical back lash, why not start taking control over your own health. Build a fence, become more prevention conscious and keep reading my blog as I’ve given specifics over the last six months of what supplements, foods and lifestyle habits you need to include. And there’s more to come. Now get stronger and healthier.
