Let’s Hear It for “D” One More Time and Weight Management?
I’m talking about Vitamin D again as it seems most of my clients medical doctors are “prescribing” to take it. Although remember, because we have the freedom to choose buying our supplements and not having to have a prescription I wanted to mention: (Meg is getting up on her soap box right now) 1. Medical Doctors have lamented and called supplements snake oil for years as they do not have the ability to: bill insurance for supplements, get kick backs from pharmaceutical companies, and feel lack of FDA approval with million dollar studies is not evident so vitamins have no research therefore are not valid. And could you please tell me why NOW they are starting to suggest viamin supplementation? 2. I beg to differ that isolating vitamins and minerals as medical doctors are seeming to do(i.e. take calcium) that nutritonal science not medical science is a holistic philosophy of interplay between vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, fatty acids etc..(Meg coming down off of soap box)
Having said that, I think supplementing with Vitamin D is a good thing for women especially, and maybe men and women for colon health. For weight management this is the reason. Vitamin D is very, very important for thyroid hormones which regulates metabolism, blood pressure, heart beat, and many endocrine functions(adrenal, ovaries) etc..
So did you know I can see if you need vitamin d in a hair mineral analysis? Yes, it’s mainly the minerals and toxic metals I see, but because minerals are also important for thyroid and other glands and systems it shows up in a hair mineral analysis. This is why I encourage my nutritional service amongst your medical doctors testing.
My point today is verging more on philosophical than nutritional, what a way to start July! But I had to get this off my chest since it’s such a fad right now. And fatvsthin is not about fads but truths and holistic nutrition for your body. Stay tuned for more thought provoking concepts…….at least I hope you think so…
