Diet Not Exercise is the Key to Losing the Last 5 lbs
It’s true! Time and time again I have female clients coming to me and saying, “Meg, I want to lose these last 5 lbs”. Then they go on to share with me they’re work out schedule 7 days a week, their diet and bingo, I get why they’re not losing. It’s their diet, diet, diet.
You would think working out 7 days a week would be enough to burn calories, but fat loss/weight loss is a very specific metabolic process which is turned on and off by nutrients not just exercise. This is why the ladies and some men who come to me will lose the last 5 lbs and I tell them to work out less.
One way I know is through personal experience. You see a long, long time ago(2007), seems like a long time ago, I had my first desk job. When I first started working there I ate my regular meals(and extra office snacks), I noticed I gained 4 lbs in the first month. Oh my god I thought, if this keeps up this is not good. So I got a handle on that. Here’s the clincher. Memorial Day 2008 I sprained my ankle really bad and could not do any exercise. So you know what was going through my head. How was I going to keep my weight down at my desk. Not to be-labor my point, but I made sure all the foods I was eating were right for my age, stage of life and other factors(you only know if you become a client). So, I got my diet together and lost 4 lbs without exercise at all. Granted their was probably some muscle lost, but overall I lost fat too.(by the way, no more desk job for me, but I have the true experience to know what to do for you)
What my post is about today is that your diet is key to your weight loss not just your exercise. This is why there are so many diets out there. We are all uniquely different and one diet that works for your friend may not work for you.
Today’s a pretty general post, but conceptually I want you to start realizing that if you’re wanting to lose weight and you work out emphatically, it’s what you’re eating.
