You Gotta Have a Good Heart

I had a yoga client last night who’s been a nutritional client as well for the last few years tell me she’d like a cholesterol support supplement for her boyfriend. Then I came home and saw the tv commercial for cheerios and how it can lower cholesterol. So I thought I’d post about cholesterol, heart health and I’ll mention some research on cholesterol and it’s connection to prostate health. That’s a very interesting connection, huh? Read on…

Did you know that in Europe they don’t emphasize that eating eggs and animal fat is what causes high cholesterol? Did you know there are other philosophies that say it’s the damage done by sugar to the arterial walls that then your body produces more cholesterol to patch up the damage? That stress alone from work, family, and life can cause damage to the arterial walls and plaque build up occurs? Enough questions.

Yes, I know sometimes it’s a genetic component. But here I go. You do not have to carry over your family’s dna and produce the same disease if you work at reversing the diet and lifestyle associated with that family disease. For example. I was talking with a young woman around the age of 27 who was concerned about getting diabetes because it ran in her family history and it was just something she thought she’d get. I’m going to be factual right now not catty. This gal was fat(especially around upper body), ate fast food for lunch, sometimes dinner, had candy at her desk all the time, drank soda, never exercised, and god knows what else. Now you tell me, is this genetic or is this dietary and lifestyle? I certainly hope you answered the latter. And now you know my point regarding cholesterol and a family history.

I’m going to have to make this two posts because I have a lot to say on this subject. Back to you guys concerned about your heart and cholesterol health. No fast food! If I can give you one tip today, if you’re of the lifestyle of grab and go from a fast food joint, stop now. At least stop in at a health food store to grab and go from their deli or pre made section. Remember the movie Super Size Me? If you never saw it, please go rent it. Hopefully it’ll show you why in graphic terms not to eat fast food.

This post is getting too long, I’m busy, you’re busy and I need to give you some practical information for your heart. Today, here’s your grocery list: vegetables, apples, berries, brown rice, fish, flax seeds, oatmeal, fiber supplement, bottled water, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, lemons, eggs….. to be cont’d………and yes, there will be more on your grocery list, don’t worry……I don’t want to stress your heart, enjoy your day!
