Keep Healthy Cholesterol Levels and Keep A Healthy Prostate
I even found this physiological connection super interesting because I had never heard that men should watch their cholesterol levels to also keep their prostate healthy. Have you? But the thing is, it all has to do with the free radical production and damage to cholesterol that can be so toxic to the prostate tissue. There’s a correlation that drugs that lower cholesterol have been shown to have positive effects on BPH(go back to previous posts).
So in other words, it’s time to make sure you have healthy cholesterol levels through your doctor visit’s and if you are too high, it’s time to make some changes. I thought to talk a bit about plant fats or sterols. Corn and soy happen to be highest in these plant sterols, but I’m not a huge fan of soy for men due to the phytoestrogens(plant estrogens). Eating corn on the cob would be a good source.
You know that product Smart Balance? Well that’s one example of a grocery store product which contains the plant sterols. Sterols are even suggested by doctors to consume as a healthy cholesterol management program because the research is so positive. But you must use the correct amount of milligrams of plant sterols per day to see results. You have to check with a health care practitioner or a doctor who is informed so you get the proper amounts. I think in the past I’d even seen certain orange juice companies adding plant sterols for healthy cholesterol levels, oh what will they think of next. I prefer the combination of a omega 3 fish oil with sterols.
I’d also say one more thing you could do which is healthy for your body is every day, have a handful of pumpkin seeds and a handful of sunflower seeds. You know I’m always trying to give you quick tips to make it convenient, healthy and easy to stay healthy and keep a healthy prostate.
Now, create a very healthy day, do something, one thing to make it nutritionally better. That’s a challenge! Talk to you tomorrow…….
