Stop “D” Madness!

As a nutritionist I’m always exasperated when one report of a vitamin or some supplement hits the news and everyone runs to the health food store to buy it. The positive to this story is I’m so thrilled people are interested in keeping good health, BUT, the mis information, out of context information and the not given information of : how to take, when, what form, what brand is good quality, and with what other nutrients will help absorption is not reported, I’m beside myself as a nutritionist.

This is the case of Vitamin D. Yes, yes, it’s very important to take Vitamin D, BUT  why now? Why hasn’t it been touted all these years as important? I’ve been knowing and touting benefits of all vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants(resveratrol reported on 60 minutes last week has been around for over 10 years by the way) for years. Just a quick note to mention it is very important to find balance when taking supplements and not to just cherry pick the latest craze. That’s all I’m saying.
