Say Yes to Going Green for Spring
My friends, clients, and associates are always asking me, ” Meg, what should I be eating?” As I go through the years listening to what people are eating or I should say not eating too, the one thing I keep hearing is the lack of vegetables. I hear, “but I have a salad everyday for lunch.” It just makes me smile, because that’s about all the vegetables they eat all day. And without sounding like a doting mother figure, you need to eat more vegetables than that. Somehow, some way, get them in your body.
What if I said your skin and nails would look better, your muscle tone would be better, leaner and more cut, your eyes would get their nutrition and much more. What do these plants provide that I can say that? Tons of minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, plant fats, and enzymes which balance our bodies.
Hey, even V8 juice company which is splashing commercials all over the tv about how you can drink your vegetables is touting importance of getting them in your diet. The problem with that is two fold. One you’re not getting the important fiber and two the pasteurization takes all the enzymes and some nutrients out so you’re not left with what fresh vegetables would give you.
Eat fresh, raw, steamed, baked, grilled, stir fryed, and that is how you’ll get the best nutrient density. Fresh juiced veggies is good too, just remember the fiber is missing so you have to eat the whole veg to get the fiber. But for a healthy snack it’s perfect.
Spring is here, hopefully you’re cleaning out your refrigerator to make way for the best foods possible. Think Green.
